Use this Site to Uncover New Independent Content!

High quality entertainment is hard to discover if the big entertainment industries don't back it. We either spend hours on the Internet sifting through songs to get to the right stuff, or just give up looking.

We think it makes more sense to let the great stuff come to you. We  collect unique and relevant works from artists that have given permission to distribute their content, then we present you with a fresh collection of shows that transfer right into your MP3 player with no hassle, free. The single-serving format allows you to add these shows easily into your media collection with no fuss.

IndieFeed's mission:

Become a trusted and reliable source for exceptional independent content via the podacst medium, and to create a workable promotion delivery model to grant more bargaining and financial power back to artists, and provide new controla nd choices for listeners.

So by now you probably have heard about podcasts.  Podcasts are free radio shows that are delivered on a schedule to your computer, ipod or other portable media player, or smartphone.  It's an easy way  to get new exciting shows all the time without a lot of work on your end.  Just choose among lots of new radio shows (and some of your favorite old ones) and they come to you automatically!  You listen to them when you want, where you want, at the gym, on the subway, in the car, and walking out on a lunch break. You get lots more control than by slogging through the advertisements on a typical FM radio station.

You can listen to podcasts many waysPodcasting is not just for iPods! The phrase podcasting rhymes with broadcasting, and although the "pod" is a little misleading, you can listen on your computer or use other personal listening devices.

Listen through a free version of iTunes with the new version you can listen right there and add new subscriptions by dragging the feed url right in the subscribe portion of the application.
You may also choose to get podcasts by downloading a free installed version of iPodder, the "pod-catcher."

Note: iPodder supports multiple operating systems, although Windows users may wish to consider getting Doppler as a podcast receiver, as it is designed specifically for this operating system.  iTunes supports Apple and Windows operating systems.

Listen using your iPod
Follow the instructions above, and simply synchronize your iPod with iTunes!

Listen on a portable MP3 player other than an iPod
You can still transfer podcasts as mp3 files and listen on the run. There may be some manual transfer requirements, depending upon your configuration.  You can automatically sync to any MP3 player that uses Windows Media.

Listen by using any RSS feed aggregator that supports RSS 2.0 (many do). In this configuration the news aggregator becomes the "pod-catcher."  Then you can link out to whatever your computer uses for listening to mp3's, such as Windows Media Player, Quicktime, MusicMatch, etc.

FAQ's
Q:What's a podcast?
A: Wikipedia has a very good definition.

Q: What does this service cost me?
A: Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Why would it, the whole idea is to get more music heard by as many people as possible, anything that gets in the way of that is against our charter. You pay nothing, except of course your passion and the hours you will spend listening to great independent music!

Q: How can I help?
Tell your friends about IndieFeed! Also if you use iTunes, consider clicking on the "write a review"  link there and giving us a 5 star rating.

How to play IndieFeed song-after-song

If you use iTunes to get your IndieFeed podcasts, you may have noticed that it's not easy to hear all your  favorite IndieFeed songs play continuously.  This is partly because Apple has designed its podcast functions to not allow this, otherwise every time you access one voice podcast you may end up hearing all the archives.  This is good functionality for long-format voice podcasts, not so great for short format music podcasts like IndieFeed.

How do you solve this?  Easy, create a Smart Playlist!.  In the dropdown window:  go to File---New Smart Playlist.  On the form at "Artist" keep "contains" and enter:

IndieFeed.com community

Then press the plus button next to the last form and another one opens up.  Depending on what IndieFeed show you want to put in this playlist you would change "Artist" to "Album," keep "contains," amd then add one of the following (these represent "Album" names for podcasting purposes):

IndieFeed: Alternative / Modern Rock Music
IndieFeed: Indie Pop Music
IndieFeed: Big Shed Audio Documentaries
IndieFeed: Blues Music
IndieFeed: Electronica Music
IndieFeed: Hip Hop Music
IndieFeed: Performance Poetry

That should do it.  Now access that playlist and you get the music playing song-after-song.  If you want to mix and match IndieFeed channels into one Playlist just add more Album designations into the same playlist.

Cheers!
